The Club was formed in 1970, aimed particularly at young cyclists, offering the opportunity to take part in all aspects of cycling. This included club runs every Sunday morning, touring, racing of different types (cyclo-cross, time-trialling, track and road racing), with weekly meetings at a club room. Full programmes of races were available with many of these still continuing to the present day.

The Club affiliated to the British Cycling Federation, British Cyclo-Cross Association and English Schools Cycling Association (now the British Schools Cycling Association). The link with E.S.C.A. Enabled many youngsters to gain E.S.C.A. Standard Awards at Bronze, Silver and Gold level. The distances ridden for these were 25, 50 and 100 miles respectively within a given time limit.
With parental support travelling to E.S.C.A. Area and National Race Championships was possible, to venues as far afield as Pudsey, Norfolk, Wolverhampton, Leicester, London and Southampton. Our riders achieved great success at these with several Champions returning in triumph. Some of these are still riding and racing with the Club.
Several later went on to even greater recognition, racing at senior level with distinction.
Steve Lawrence won the Isle of Man International Roads Race, became a double National Road Race Champion, was a Commonwealth Gold Medal Winner and represented Britain at the World Championships.
John Morstead won 17 races as a Junior then as a senior returned to the U.S.A. Where he continued to win, including claiming the Texas Road Race Championship more than once.
Steve Wakefield graduated from Grass Track Racing to become an international road rider, noted as an excellent climber, who eventually became a successful professional.
Kevin Davis had many wins in Brittany and donated several of his trophies to the Club, these being awarded annually in Club competitions.
Paul Brown and Andy Johnson also proved their worth as professional team riders, featuring in televised city centre races.
In recent years Veteran riders are 'flying the flag' for the Club, with success in Time Trialling as National Team Champions at 25 miles and having a team member in a V.T.T.A. Group National Championship win, for aggregate results over 25, 50 and 100 miles. The Retired Officers Champion at 10 and 25 miles in the Police Championships, Pete Cartledge has successfully defended his title over three years.
Ted Battersby is still racing in Belgium and has on at least one occasion finished ahead of Lucien Van Impe, a Tour de France winner.
Paul Wakefield, returning to the Club in 2003, became L.V.R.C. National Road Race Champion. He had been an E.S.C.A. Champion too.
Steve Wakefield won the inaugural B.C. National Masters Championship in 2002, was B.C.National Over 50 Road Race Champion in 2005 and in 2006 became the L.V.R.C. 'Category C' National Champion.
Steve Marrows made a comeback in 2003 and re-acquainted the bunch with his sprint finish. In 2004 he took over the L.V.R.C. National 'Category A' Champion's jersey and also became B.C. Lincolnshire Division Road Race Champion, so continuing Lindsey Roads hold on National honours in recent years.

2007 saw a year of wind, rain and floods. Nevertheless, club members registered 17 Personal Bests in time trials. Stuart Wells reduced his own and the Club '10' record to 20.13. James Struthers lowered the '50' record to 1.53.12 and then the '100' to 4.0.17 in his first attempt at the longer distance. Dave Robinson reduced both the 'Caistor and Back' and 'Louth and Back' records to 41.16 and 43.43 respectively.

More than 85 riders were members in 2007.
